Japan Society of Traffic Engineers is established in 1966.  Our purposes are researching traffic engineering to meet social needs, contributing to development of well society through making traffics safe and smooth, and educating and encouraging specialists for traffic engineering.

Becoming an important part in traffic engineering, we grew up to an authorized organization in 1979 to aim development of road traffic studies

In 1980, we received the first Achievement Award, one of the International Association of Traffic and Safety Sciences (IATSS) Awards.  We have also achieved good results as only one traffic engineering research organization in Japan.

Japan Society of Traffic Engineers is a scientific society for people who are concerned with traffic engineering. We develop traffic engineering systems to store any technologies of traffic security and facilitation. We focus on road traffic systems including roads, vehicles, people, and environments. Traffic accidents and traffic jam have been problems for long time. Environmental issues including roads environment also need to be solved. Recently, traffic engineering technology has developed and made practicable for improvement of traffic security and facilitation using Intelligent Transportation System, which is information and communication technology systems. The focus of traffic engineering has been wider to adapt social needs year by year; therefore, we have coped with new coming traffic studies every year.
